Comments: Mapudungun is an endangered indigenous language spoken by the Mapuche people in south-central Chile and west-central Argentina. Its name comes from mapu ("land") and dungun ("speech"), meaning "the speech of the land". Previously called Araucanian, the language is still spoken today and efforts are underway to revitalize it, with programs in some schools and cultural revival initiatives.
